Boiler and Pressure Equipment Regulatory Compliance

Services

ICS Consulting has extensive experience working within the field of regulated boiler and pressure equipment work. Specialized in the development, implementation and maintenance of Quality Control Programs that meet regulatory requirements such as the Nova Scotia Technical Safety Act and Boiler and Pressure Equipment Regulations.

NS Technical Safety Act and Regulations applies to regulated work and associated codes and standards such as:

  • CSA B51 - Boiler, Pressure Vessel & Pressure Piping Code

  • CSA B52 - Mechanical Refrigeration Code

  • ASME B31.1, B31.3 and B31.5 - Power, Pressure and Refrigeration Piping

  • NBBI - National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors

  • Regulated work specific to:

    • pressure vessels (other than a boiler) that handles gas, air or liquid at a pressure above 15 psig, diameter larger than 6" and a capacity greater than 42.5L

    • pressure piping above 250 degress F, with steam above 15 psig or water above 160 psig

    • boiler systems above 507 000 BTu, has steam above 15 psig or hot water above 30 psi

The above list of requirements are just a portion of those required for work being done in accordance with Provincial Acts and Regulations. You should consider the scope of work your Business is involved with to accurately determine how these regulations will affect you.

Many of these codes and regulations require a Quality Control Program to be in place. Due to the nature of this work, having a Quality Control Program in place should provide a Business with assurances that appropriate records are being maintained to provide proof that work completed was done as required and by competent personnel.
